Qi Gong and Meditation in the Workplace
Mental and Physical Health in Organisations
Breaking the Cycle of Stress
Recent reports from Deloitte have quantified the financial impact of mental health in the UK workplace. The reports state for every £1 spent by employers on mental health interventions they get £5 back in reduced absence, presenteeism and staff turnover. Their research also asserts poor mental health costs UK employers up to £56 billion each year. This is expected to rise to £69 billion by 2027 (Financial Times, 26 August 2023).

ISO 45003 is the first global standard on managing psychological health in the workplace. ISO 45003 has been designed, amongst other things, to improve recruitment and to help reduce workplace absence due to stress and anxiety.
Qi Gong and meditation are highly effective forms of stress relief and can alleviate psychosocial hazards affecting workers, such as anxiety and depression.
Stress is omnipresent, but can feel more acute in the workplace. Meditation is the perfect pattern interrupt when stress takes over. It is accessible 24/7, before any meeting, before any phone call, before any presentation, whenever and wherever it is required.
Qi Gong is Mindfulness in Motion. Offering Qi Gong in the workplace can improve both the mental and physical wellbeing of employees and colleagues.
(Peri)Menopause in the Workplace: Retaining experience and expertise
Menopausal women are the fastest growing population in the UK workplace. Three out of four women experience menopausal symptoms and one out of four women consider leaving their jobs as a direct result of those symptoms. The average age of menopause is 51, however the body prepares for menopause (perimenopause) up to ten years in advance.
The British Standards Institution launched BS30416 in 2023. This standard focuses on changing the narrative around menopause and menstrual health in the workplace. (Peri)Menopause can greatly impact an employee’s ability to meet their responsibilities. It is important for employers to understand the impact an inclusive and accepting workplace can have not only on retaining experienced staff but also attracting new highly qualified employees.
Qi Gong is Ideal for the Workplace
Qi Gong is perfect for the work environment. Everyone can take part irrespective of age or fitness level; there is no equipment needed; you do not work up a sweat and you simply wear comfortable clothing.
I offer a number of services suitable for the workplace. These can form part of ongoing weekly corporate wellbeing sessions or as part of a team away day or larger workplace wellness initiatives.
I also teach Qi Gong sessions specifically designed for (Peri)Menopause. I am happy to host menopause discussions in your workplace. For example, Menopause Cafés are peer to peer informal gatherings which encourage women to share their experiences and stories thereby showing others they are not alone in this transition.
I would be delighted to develop bespoke offerings specific to your place of work.
Sessions are offered in person or via Zoom.

Suzi led a 30 minute session, with a ten minute breathing meditation, with my team at the end of our away day. It’s fair to say that some were a little sceptical about meditation. However, the introduction (including the fact that Suzi explained she has worked in the corporate world) really put them at ease. And we all very much enjoyed the meditation. Her voice was calming and it was perfectly suited to beginners. All went away feeling relaxed, having put the day behind them which is exactly what I was looking for. Thoroughly recommend.
